Bo Burnham: Inside is a Netflix Original comedy special that shows how one comedian coped with isolation. To say it’s relatable, would be a massive understatement. Let’s consider the pros and cons of Bo Burnham: Inside…
Pros: Firstly, this is an extremely well done one-man show. It seems like the limited production value would negatively effect the final product, but it actually makes it more intimate. Most importantly, Bo Burnham is as clever and creative as ever in this pandemic era time capsule. Each song, while tackling a separate Covid related topic, bursts with both melody and poignant commentary. And not only are the songs catchy, but each skit is more memorable than the last. My words aren’t going to be able to do it justice, because there is too much talent to cover. I enjoyed it from start to finish.
Cons: There are substantial limitations on this feature-length special due to it’s confined location, but overall it works well. It greatly benefits from the splicing and editing that is missing from standard stand-up specials. It stands out in more ways than one, and look at me, not having much negative to say at all!
I Give Bo Burnham: Inside an A-. It’s a fitting stand-up special for what amounted to an insane 2020. And Bo Burnham is the white savior we’ve been waiting for, to get us through these depressing times. That’s my attempt at a joke, referencing a joke from the special. Just watch it and let me know what you think! Happy Watching!
