Did you know: Apple Macintosh

The Macintosh project began in the late 1970s with Jef Raskin, an Apple employee who envisioned an easy-to-use, low-cost computer for the average consumer. He wanted to name the computer after his favorite type of apple, the McIntosh.

Unfortunately, the name “Mcintosh” was already being used by an audio equipment manufacturer and the name was changed to “Macintosh” for legal reasons. After Steve Jobs’ request to use the alternative name was denied, Apple was eventually forced to buy the rights to use it. The Macintosh was eventually released on January 24, 1984.
