Did you know that you can find the featured images on the Windows 10 login screen? Believe it or not, it is possible to find these awesome, free pictures by simply navigating through your file explorer. This guide will show you where to find Windows Spotlight images and how to make them your desktop background!
- Navigate to Windows Spotlight Image folder
- Open File Explorer
- Select Local Disk (C:) > Users > (Your Username)
- In the next window, Select AppData
- AppData is a hidden folder. If it’s not visible, select the “View” tab at the top of File Explorer > Toggle “Hidden Items” On
- Select Local > Packages > Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_xxxx
- Select LocalState > Assets
- If you plan on using this method frequently, I recommend right clicking the “Assets” folder > Send to > Desktop (Create Shortcut)
- Open “Assets” folder > Sort files by Size, descending from largest to smallest
- Files over 1,000 KB usually indicate images
- Copy files over 1,000 KB to your Pictures folder
- Rename each file by adding “.jpg” at the end of each name
- The images are ready to be sorted and used as a wallpaper
- Right click on your desktop > Select Personalize
- Choose whether you want a static background picture, or slideshow
- Browse to image or image folder obtained from steps 1-5
- Now you have an awesome background for your PC!
